Native Cincinnatian
Timothy P. Heather (Tim), obtained
his B.F.A. degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1977, where
he majored in broadcasting. Tim also obtained his law degree from
the University of Cincinnati in 1980. While in law school, Tim was
a member of the National Moot Court team and was the recipient of
the Best Orator Award and Best Brief Award in the Ohio Tri-School
Moot Court Competition. He was admitted to both the Ohio bar and
Federal bar in 1980.Tim, who holds the Martindale-Hubble AV rating, concentrates his legal practice in bodily injury defense litigation arising out of motor vehicle accidents, homeowners, and commercial liability insurance coverage; insurance policy drafting and interpretation; declaratory judgment actions; and other civil defense litigation. He regularly represents insurers who have been sued in uninsured-underinsured motorist claims, bad faith claims, and other actions. Tim has served as counsel of record in three reported Ohio Supreme Court decisions and a plethora of reported and unreported state and federal appellate decisions. Tim, who is the chairperson of the Benjamin, Yocum & Heather Insurance Law Department, has been a long-time member of the Cincinnati and Ohio State Bar Associations, the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys, the Defense Research Institute, and the Cincinnati Claims Association. He is a frequent author and speaker on negligence and insurance law topics and serves on the Common Pleas Court and Negligence Law Committees of the Cincinnati Bar Association. Tim, his wife, Paula, and their three children, live in the western part of Cincinnati. He is a member of the Monfort Heights United Methodist Church where he regularly serves as the church's liturgist and as a long time member of the church's endowment fund committee. Tim, who earned five varsity letters while in high school, still enjoys most major sports, as well as American history, military aviation, and attending his kids' sports activities.
